BOARD OF DIRECTORS


The Board of Directors is the executive committee of CITIC. It is responsible for deliberating and agreeing on the centre’s activities in areas such as science policy, strategy, research, knowledge transfer and infrastructure. The board is made up of the Regional Government of Galicia General Secretary for Universities, the UDC Vice-President for Research, the CITIC Director and Deputy Director, one member of the CITIC management team, and five established CITIC researchers.

 

Salvador Naya Fernández is the UDC Vice-President for Science Policy, Research and Knowledge Transfer. He is a professor of Statistics and Operational Research (UDC), and a member of the Statistical Modelling, Optimisation and Inference (MODES) research group. In his capacity as UDC Vice-President for Research, he is also the current President of the CITIC Foundation of Galicia, Bugalicia and the Institute of Industrial Mathematics (ITMATI). 

Manuel F. González Penedo is the Director of CITIC and a senior lecturer in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (UDC). He is the coordinator of the Artificial Vision and Pattern Recognition (VARPA) research group and responsible for the Image and Video Processing sections of the Coruña Institute for Biomedical Research (INIBIC). 

Javier Pereira Loureiro is the Deputy Director of CITIC and a senior lecturer in Radiology and Physical Medicine (UDC). He is the coordinator of the Technological Applications for Research in Occupation, Equality and Health (TALIONIS) research group, coordinator of the UDC Master’s in Health Science Bioinformatics, and Director of the UDC Handytronic-Telecon Chair.  

José Alberto Díez de Castro is the current General Secretary for Universities of the Regional Government of Galicia. He is a senior lecturer in Business Organisation at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), and was Dean of the USC Faculty of Business Administration and Management (Lugo).

Pedro Cabalar Fernández is a senior lecturer in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (UDC), and a member of the Information Retrieval Lab (IRlab) research group. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, knowledge representation, logic, non-monotonic reasoning, logic programming and answer set programming.

Mª José Lombardía Cortiña is a senior lecturer in Statistics and Operational Research, a member of the Statistical Modelling, Optimisation and Inference (MODES) research group, and the coordinator of the UDC Data Management and Analysis unit. Her research focuses on small area estimation, mixed model estimation, finite population sampling, and bootstrap resampling methods.

José Carlos Dafonte Vázquez is a senior lecturer in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (UDC), and the coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence Applications (LIA2) research group. His research is focused on artificial intelligence and image processing.

Íñigo Arregui Álvarez is a senior lecturer in Applied Mathematics (UDC), and a member of the Numerical Methods and Modelling for Engineering and Applied Science (M2NICA) research group. His research is focused on the analysis of mathematical methods and numerical simulation, particularly in the area of finance.

Juan Touriño Domínguez is a professor of Computer Architecture and Technology (UDC), and the coordinator of the Computer Architecture (GAC) research group. His research interests include high performance computing, parallel and distributed computing, cloud computing, big data, and geographic information systems.
